An Easy Way To Make An Extra $1,000 For Your Website Designs
I know a lot of web designers are working towards charging $5000 and more for their websites, so I thought I’d share what helped me tip my prices over that mark — and with confidence — so that the higher price point was easier to sell!
Here's a run-down of what I did to make an extra $1,000 for my website designs....
I positioned myself as the ultimate website expert by combining…
Content strategy
Website design
Copywriting
…into one packaged, done-for-you service.
Packaging these 3 things into one complete service allows you to confidently make more money per project and position yourself as an expert because you're delivering a better end-product to your client.
Here’s a quick breakdown of these 3 components.
1) Content strategy
Most web designers are already doing some level of content strategy with their clients. If you’re asking your clients what pages they need then creating a plan to help them turn in their content, you’re helping strategize their content! But most of us can take it deeper. You can use content and website strategy to dive in deep with your clients to figure out the vision for their websites, then create a content plan *with them* to make it happen. This is the easiest area to lean into to really position yourself as a high-end website designer.
2) Website design
This is probably what you're already *most* comfortable with and is obviously an important part of becoming an ultimate website designer and expert for your website clients.
3) Website copy
As a website designer, you can *easily* add copywriting to your web design services by using a templated resource with prompts for each page of your client's website. You can create this resource yourself using a free tool like Google Docs, or you can swipe the Website Content Guide I created and use my copywriting workflow inside of Quicker Content Framework.
My Website Content Guide is what makes writing copy for my design clients SO EASY and effortless.
Basically, this is a master template with prompts for each page of the client’s site. I deliver it via Google Docs because it makes it easy to check in on clients and collaborate.
The client simply answers the prompts (which are easy to answer because they’re bite-sized and ask for specific information that your client understands), meaning your client isn’t wondering what to say or how to all of a sudden become a professional copywriter! Then you simply take their answers, turn it into finished website copy and present it as a complete package with the design.
Knowing I was delivering a better website to my clients gave me the confidence to actually SELL my services as a high-end website designer. Which is really important because you can charge a high price point all you want...but it’s going to be hard to sell if you don’t have confidence in what you’re selling.
All of this together:
Speeds up and streamlines the design and content collection process
Positions you as an expert
Adds MASSIVE amounts of value that gives your clients better results
And allows you to deliver a done-for-you experience that you can *easily* charge thousands and thousands of dollars for!
How much more income could you make if you charged an extra $200, $500 or $1,000 for your website design services?
By adding copywriting to our web design services, my students and I have been able to add $1,000s in income to our projects without working harder!
IMPORTANT NOTE: I know that depending on your current pricing, charging an additional $1,000 right away might not be feasible. I want to show you what you can at least work up towards, knowing that $1,000 for copywriting isn’t even your limit — you can charge WAY more for this as you get more comfortable with adding copywriting into your web design workflow.
There are proven ways to make it as easy and painless as possible — hundreds of designers have gone through my mini course and used my Website Content Guide to streamline their content collection process and add extra income to their web design businesses!
